The truffle fries were just ok - regular fries with a tiny hint of truffle flavor. Definitely not worth the price. The strawberry and goat cheese salad was basically a handful of Trader Joe's spinach with just one sliced up strawberry, insanely pungent shallots, and 2 pieces of "fried" goat cheese. I can only compare the goat cheese to a bootleg mozzarella stick that has bread crumbs on the outside and comes frozen. Again, not worth the price.
But the worst was when the waitress came around to our table 30 minutes after we ordered and I had received my salad, and told us that they were out of mussels. Huh? It would have been really beneficial to our meal had she come, say, 5 minutes after we ordered? So I sat there awkwardly with my salad while the waitress asked Chris if he wanted to order anything else. He passed, we wolfed the little salad in 5 minutes, and 5 minutes after that were at 711 buying bean burritos.
Overall Le Papagayo would be reasonable for happy hour, and definitely a cool date night spot, but we weren't feeling it for a sit-down dinner.
